Before we step through the looking glass together, there are a few points you need to consider regarding my design process. I, as your designer, will stick to this process, as much as possible, at all times as it produces superior results.
1 | The Creative Brief
Understanding you, the client’s needs, goals, mission & audience is what will take the designs I create for you, to the next level.
The creative brief questions will help me get on the same page about what you want & need out of the results of the project.
2 | Research & Brainstorm
Now I will utilise what I have learned from the creative brief by doing further research. I like to create a project mood board with important themes (pulled from the creative brief). If it’s a larger project, I’ll also put together a “brand strategy” guide. This will cover important topics from the brief – the brand’s mission & values, the target audience, competition, what makes the client/brand unique, etc. I will take the time to fully understand your business and goals, but it will ensure that we are on the same wavelength.
It might seem like a lot of legwork, but getting this project 100% right is of the utmost importance.
3 | Sketching
For my initial round of concepts, I will be sketching things out on paper. If I hop onto the computer too soon – I could get stuck on doing the same old same old. Not to mention get, more easily distracted and too wrapped up in the nitty-gritty details, like colours, type and general pixel pushing.
4 | Refining
This is where I ask myself “how can I make this better?” A tweak in composition, colours or type can make a world of difference.
5 | Presenting
Now that I have refined your best options – it’s time to show them to you, the client. I will utilise mockups etc, which will help you visualize the overall result. I will also explain why I took the decisions I did with regards various assets (“I chose this colour as it represents the warm, friendly nature of your brand.”)
6 | Revisions
At this stage, you may want some changes to be made. I will discuss with you the revision requests you have made and if it makes the most sense for the success of the overall project.
7 | Final Delivery
After the project has been approved and signed off, I will deliver the final design/s in the formats you have requested.
Above all else, I want you to have an amazing experience, leaving you with both a fantastic design and a massive smile on your face.
